Tips for Travelling Through Edinburgh
The Edinburgh Trams service is the most comfortable and reliable way to reach the airport from the city centre. It runs directly from York Place (near St Andrew Square) and stops at Haymarket — useful if you are staying in the west of the city.
The Airlink 100 bus runs 24 hours and is the best option for very early or very late flights when the tram may not be running at full frequency. It is also slightly cheaper than the tram.
Security queues at Edinburgh can be long during peak summer departures and school holidays. Allow at least two hours for short-haul flights. The airport publishes live security wait times on its website.
Pre-book parking as far in advance as possible. Edinburgh's parking prices rise steeply close to travel dates. Book through the official Edinburgh Airport website for the best rates.
